Nightmare systems
Date:8 July 2010
" Well have to say we have had nothing but problems with these systems, we purchased 3 z800 all have BSOD problems, installing Adaptec & LSI Raid controllers caused the system to BSOD during reboots, Bios problems which did not allow USB keyboard & mouse during XP setup. This was fixed in current bios release but I wonder how much testing was done! Slightly more stable under Windows 7 but still have problems still have random BSOD. This looked to be a promising machine very disappointed. "

Good, but
Date:14 June 2010
" Had two of these for six months. They DO support RAID5. If you want to fit all four disks in the internal cage you need the option fan. The original Intel/HP disk driver had a serious fault, now fixed, but use the Intel version. One unit is very quiet, the other has a low frequency audio beat, probably caused by one of the many fans. I keep trying to buy a new fan but they are never available. They work much better if you fit a SSD in the front bay and boot from it. I use the Intel X25M, very good. No problems with Windows 7, 64bit Enterprise. Also, no problems with NVIDIA graphics. "

Excellent, But Does More Than Advertised
Date:9 February 2010
" 1. First, the unit supports up to 5 3.5" SATA Drives, the 4th being placed in the optical drive with an optional bracket. You can squeeze in another one, but it has to be a 2.5 laptop drive.
2. Second, the literature says it only supports 1.5tb SATA drives--we put 2tb drives in the unit just fine. Use an HP drive for the the 1st with the O/S on it, and buy your own drives.
3. The unit does not support RAID 5 without an external LSI Card, but will do RAID 0.
4. We had problems with both the video and audio cards, and replaced them with stock stuff from Frys.
5. Unit is noisy and you will need a very large battery back up. "
